The longest leg of the Flight To End Polio journey is complete! After 9 hours and 48 minutes in the air, Peter and Ed have landed in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Ed has now completed the requirements for the Guinness World Record as the oldest pilot ever to fly a single-engine airplane across the Atlantic! It will take a few weeks for verification of the record by Guinness. Ed has already qualified for a record on this trip for the eastbound Atlantic crossing. Way to fly, Ed!
On this leg of the flight, the pilots were also attempting to set the international speed record for that route. This will also need to be verified later, by the National Aeronautic Association.
